Vetspeed has enhanced fleet visibility, streamlined administration and strengthened compliance management across its multi-site vehicle operations through the implementation of AssetGo fleet management software.
The vehicle fleet supports activities across a network of sites, making effective fleet oversight, operational efficiency and compliance management key priorities for the business.
The company currently operates 65 vehicles across five sites and has recently acquired an additional business with a further 35 vehicles. These vehicles will also be migrated onto AssetGo, taking the total number managed through the system to around 100.
Vetspeed introduced AssetGo in 2023, shortly after group transport manager Justin Waite joined the business. Having used the system in a previous role, he recognised the opportunity to move from paper-based processes to a more centralised and efficient approach to fleet management.
‘I introduced AssetGo within months of starting this role because I could see the benefits it would bring in terms of visibility, consistency and reporting across our fleet operations,’ said Justin. ‘It has given us a much more efficient way to manage compliance, while making fleet management significantly easier and providing greater confidence in the information available to the business.’
The company now uses AssetGo to record daily defect checks, inspections and costs, while maintaining records of vehicle incidents, events, driver qualifications and plant equipment within a single platform.
A key benefit has been the ability to oversee the entire operation centrally, including vehicles operating from satellite locations.
‘AssetGo has enabled us to ensure daily defect checks are being completed consistently and has improved our ability to monitor vehicle off road time,’ he said. ‘Defect tracking, particularly across our satellite sites, is much easier because I have visibility of the entire fleet from one location.’
This improved visibility has also helped the company monitor vehicle availability through the key product indicator reporting available within AssetGo. According to Justin, better access to operational data and improved visibility of vehicle status has enabled the transport operation to provide more timely and useful information to customer service teams.
Compliance remains a central focus for the business. Vetspeed is currently using AssetGo’s Earned Recognition dashboard to support its ongoing compliance programme and preparations for a DVSA Earned Recognition application in early 2027.
The transition was supported by an onboarding programme tailored to Vetspeed’s operational requirements and varied vehicle types.
‘The support team was incredibly helpful,’ continued Justin. ‘It completed all the preparation work with us, helped design the daily defect sheets across our different vehicle types and provided several Teams based training sessions.’
Although it has not attempted to quantify the management time saved since digitising its fleet processes, Justin says the system has significantly reduced administrative effort while providing greater visibility and control across the operation.
‘The value for us comes from reduced administration time, better vehicle lifecycle tracking and the confidence it gives both me and the senior management team through having accurate, up to date information readily available across the fleet,’ he explained. ‘Having a single system across all sites gives us greater visibility, more effective reporting and supports consistent operational standards throughout the business.’
