Guyhirn, Cambridgeshire based Bretts Transport is re-investing in its fleet with the addition of nine new DAF trucks as it continues to drive operational efficiency within the business.

The company has just taken delivery of the first six liveried DAF XG 480 trucks, with another three scheduled to arrive towards the end of September.

The new trucks form part of Bretts’ ongoing fleet replacement programme which is designed to ensure its vehicles remain modern and efficient, in turn benefiting customers with its unrivalled service at a competitive rate.

Designed for long distance trunking journeys, the 44 tonne trucks each come with a 3.95 metre wheelbase. They are powered by DAF’s efficient MX-13 engine, delivering a strong performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

The 480 model features a 480 hp engine, automated gearbox, and a 6 x 2 axle configuration designed for long distance haulage and optimised weight distribution.

Wayne Minney, transport general manager at Bretts Transport, said the new vehicles were proving popular with drivers, offering the ultimate in safety and comfort.

All DVS compliant, the trucks are each equipped with DAF’S Corner View system, a kerb view window in the co-driver door, reverse warning technology and DAF’s City Safety Package which improves visibility and safety in busy areas.

Their high comfort cabs are spacious and come with an array of features including luxury air suspended seating, an integrated infotainment and navigation system, a refrigerator and storage and sleeper accommodation which comes with an Xtra Comfort mattress.

The trucks also feature Fleet Focus’s four way camera system and an in-cab AI driver facing camera which monitors for signs of fatigue, distraction, mobile phone use and reduced attention. Where needed, the system triggers alerts and gathers camera evidence which allows for faster intervention, driver coaching and improved safety within fleet operations.

Wayne said, ‘The driving team at Bretts is delighted to receive the new trucks. As well as offering excellent driver comforts which provide a home from home experience on long journeys, they allow us to maintain excellent fuel economy, keep repair costs down and reduce overall running costs, the benefits of which are passed on to our customers.’
