Family run haulage specialists, LHT Logistics, is marking its 25th anniversary with a fleet upgrade, an expansion into new regional territories and record turnover growth.
The business was founded in 2001 by father and son duo, Jack and Ben Ruby, after their family stepped away from running the 270 year old London Hospital Tavern. Swapping hospitality for logistics, they launched a local courier service running out of a 1000 square foot warehouse in Edmonton.
Over the past two decades, the firm has transformed into a major long distance logistics provider and become a long standing shareholder member of the Pall-Ex network. Today, it operates a fleet of 15 vehicles and is supported by a 30 strong team at its hub near the M25.
Showcasing its commitment to future growth, the business is continually upgrading its fleet to remain compliant. In addition to its modern fleet of Renault Trucks, LHT has recently purchased two MAN vehicles, an investment that forms part of a strategic decision to pivot toward long distance general haulage, allowing for enhanced service reliability, efficiency and increased delivery capacity.
Positioned strategically on the orbital motorway, the depot services key routes across North London, Hertfordshire and Essex, while providing daily nationwide trunking across the country. The business has recently taken on additional network territory, including Harlow, Bishops Stortford and Stanstead, driving a significant surge in turnover over the last six months and prompting future plans for growth.
A cornerstone of its success and longevity is its commitment to its people, many of whom – like longstanding warehouse manager, Clint Joseph, and driver Emin Emin, have been with the business for over 20 years, witnessing its journey from regional courier to transport leaders.
Reflecting on the journey, Ben Ruby, managing director at LHT Logistics, said: ‘Reaching 25 years is a massive milestone for us, and it is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. At Pall-Ex’s annual awards, where standout members receive recognition for their hard work and impact to the sector, LHT Logistics’ team secured the top industry honour, taking home the ‘Pall-Ex Depot of the Year’ title.
