With one of the largest investments in electromobility to date, the Pflaum freight forwarding company is consistently advancing its sustainability strategy and coming a step closer to its goal of a largely emission free fleet.
By 2030, the company aims to operate three-quarters of its fleet emission free.
It is currently running emission free at around 60%, comprised of vehicles powered by HVO100, bio-LNG, and bio-CNG. However, the proportion of battery powered vehicles is still somewhat underrepresented at 1%.
The company has a. long standing relationship with Daimler Truck and has now taken delivery of 30 eActros 600 electric trucks.
The fully electric truck is charged almost entirely with renewable energy and has a range of up to 550 kilometres. The vehicles will now gradually be put into operation and integrated into route planning – the electrification of the fleet is progressing.
The investment included an innovative pink truck. ‘We wanted to bring more colour and femininity to the fleet and to this male dominated field,’ said the company’s Ruth Pflaum, ‘and thought, why not with a pink truck?
‘The pink truck represents what is important to us at Pflaum: greater visibility for women in an industry, which it urgently needs – and a fleet that actively shapes the change,’ added Ruth.
