Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in the United States, reinforcing its long term strategy to support customer demand, enhance operational flexibility, and strengthen its production capabilities across North America.

The new greenfield, purpose built facility is expected to expand DTNA’s manufacturing capacity and strengthen both vocational and on-highway production. Designed with advanced production technologies and flexible manufacturing systems, the facility will support future innovation, quality, efficiency, and operational resilience.
The facility will feature the latest in manufacturing technologies, production equipment, and highly adaptable assembly processes, enabling Daimler Truck North America to efficiently build a broad range of vehicle configurations while responding to changing market needs.
The company is currently evaluating multiple potential locations for the facility. Key considerations include the ability to access and support a stable and efficient supply chain and skilled workforce, transportation and logistics infrastructure, a favourable business environment, and alignment with the company’s long term manufacturing strategy.
Following final site selection, construction is expected to begin in late 2026, with operations targeted to start in 2029. The facility is projected to create thousands of jobs over time and contribute to the local economy through partnerships with suppliers, educational institutions, and community organisations.
The planned facility is part of DTNA’s ongoing efforts to align its manufacturing footprint with long term business requirements. The company continuously evaluates its production network to ensure it remains competitive, efficient, and positioned for future growth. Additional details, including the final location and employment projections, will be announced at a later date.
For more than 80 years, Daimler Truck North America has manufactured commercial vehicles in the United States.
Currently, it operates a strong manufacturing network across the Carolinas, including plants in Cleveland, Gastonia, Mount Holly, High Point, and Gaffney, ensuring its production network is close to customers, key suppliers, and major transportation corridors.
Beyond manufacturing, DTNA maintains a significant presence in Portland, Oregon, home to its headquarters as well as its engineering hub, where teams play a central role in innovation, vehicle development, testing, and product validation.
