A Highland logistics business with headquarters in Inverness, is helping keep some of Scotland’s most remote communities connected. It has now been named Employer of the Year at the Scottish Business of the Year Awards 2026.

M&H Carriers, which was founded in Inverness in 1987, received the award in recognition of its investment in people, inclusive workplace culture and commitment to supporting long-term careers across the business.

The company is soon to reach 500 employees across hubs in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Argyll and Perth, supported by 14 satellite depots. Its teams work across some of Scotland’s most challenging delivery routes, from city hubs to rural communities, island locations and hard to reach areas where local knowledge matters.

The award comes after a significant period of growth, but M&H Carriers’ focus on people has remained central. Women now hold 50% of senior management team roles, young people are being supported into the logistics industry, and tailored support is in place for neurodiverse and disabled colleagues across depot based roles.

In 2024, following the collapse of Menzies Parcels, M&H Carriers stepped in to protect vital delivery services across the Highlands and Islands. Within two months, the business opened new depots in Invergordon, Aviemore, Lochgilphead and Broadford on the Isle of Skye, safeguarding essential delivery links for communities and businesses across the region.

The company also invested £2 million in fleet expansion and launched its bespoke Parcel Master delivery platform in just 60 days, increasing parcel handling capacity from around 15,000 to 25,000 items per day.

Fraser MacLean, managing director of M&H Carriers, said: ‘Employer of the Year is one of the proudest awards we could win because it recognises the people who keep this business moving. Our team works across some of Scotland’s most challenging routes and communities every day, and this award belongs to every one of them.’

The win highlights M&H Carriers’ role as one of the north of Scotland’s key employers, combining national logistics capability with local knowledge, long term investment and a strong commitment to the communities it serves.

More than a logistics success story, the award recognises the people behind the deliveries Scotland relies on, from warehouse teams and drivers to customer service, compliance, finance, HR and managers across the network.
