Siemens Mobility is set to present a range of new and updated technologies for rail transport at this year’s Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich from 2-5 June 2025.
The company has announced a specific focus on enhancing operational flexibility and supporting digitalisation in the sector.
Throughout the event, Siemens Mobility is displaying several key products, including the Vectron MS multi-system locomotive, the Vectron AC with an integrated battery module, and new digital tools under the Smart Asset Suite, powered by Railigent X.
Among the products on display will be the Vectron AC locomotive with a newly developed battery power module. The additional equipment enables the locomotive to operate over short stretches of track without access to overhead lines, such as during shunting or on the final section of a delivery route.
The battery system uses a high-voltage lithium-ion module and includes an intelligent management system to regulate charging and discharging. This feature is designed to support operators who wish to avoid diesel locomotives in non-electrified areas, contributing to lower emissions and reduced noise in rail operations.
The Vectron MS will also be on show at the Siemens Mobility stand. This locomotive is designed for cross-border rail services and is equipped to handle multiple national systems. This allows it to operate across a variety of European networks without the need for locomotive changes at borders.
Siemens Mobility is also highlighting its Smart Asset Suite, a digital service platform built on Railigent X. The suite offers tools for monitoring and improving locomotive performance and availability. According to Siemens, the solution can be retrofitted to existing Vectron locomotives, providing operators with access to data analytics and predictive maintenance functions.
In addition, Siemens is showcasing Railcover®, a modular service package for locomotives; MoBase, an online marketplace for railway spare parts; and the Rail Service Hub, which integrates data insights and fleet management functions into a single interface.
