Evri Group has expanded its UK network with the opening of a new depot in Peterborough following the signing of a 10 year lease on a 95,950 square foot unit at the logistics development Peterborough South.
The depot, which began operation in August, was officially opened by local Labour MP Andrew Pakes. It represents a £1.2 million investment and will support the continued growth of Evri Group’s parcel network following its merger with DHL eCommerce UK last year. The group handles over one billion parcels per year.
Over the last few years, the group has invested £57 million in its operations and technology, underscoring its commitment to enhancing service quality, customer experience, and operational efficiency. This latest investment continues its commitment in delivering the best possible delivery services for customers and ensures it is well placed to deliver further success. The site will handle around 8000 parcels a day and has the capacity to increase this to 16,000 during its peak operation as business prepares for another year of growth.
The new site has created 43 jobs locally, including roles for warehouse operatives, drivers, and administrative positions.
In a sector first, Evri teamed up with disability equality charity Scope in 2024 to create a more accessible and inclusive workplace. Evri also offers a competitive benefits package designed to support employees both professionally and personally. Employees can progress into depot management roles or undertake training to become qualified HGV Class 2 or Class 1 drivers.
Strategically located adjacent to Fletton Parkway, the site provides access to the A1(M) within six minutes and is within a two hour drive of two major ports and four international airports. London King’s Cross can also be reached in under 40 minutes by train.
‘It was a pleasure to officially open Evri Group’s new depot today and to meet some of the team already working here. Thirty-six new local jobs, with real routes into management and HGV driving, is welcome news for Peterborough families. This investment shows the confidence businesses have in our city and its strong transport links. I’m grateful to Evri Group and Cain for choosing Peterborough, and I wish everyone at the depot every success,’ said Andrew Pakes MP for Peterborough.
‘The new Peterborough sites provides modern, well connected space that will support the continued growth of our parcel network. The new depot represents a £1.2 million investment in the local area and has created 43 jobs while providing the capacity to handle up to 16,000 parcels a day at peak volumes. Its strategic location and strong sustainability credentials make it an excellent fit for our operations as we continue to invest in capacity and service for customers across the UK. The depot is located within the Peterborough South logistics estate, which has now reached full occupancy following Evri Group’s arrival. Developed to net zero carbon construction standards, the unit has achieved EPC A and BREEAM Excellent ratings. Sustainability features include rooftop solar PV, battery ready infrastructure and extensive electric vehicle charging provision,’ said Gary Chalk, director of depots Evri Premium.
‘Achieving full occupancy at Peterborough South demonstrates the strong demand for high quality, sustainable logistics space in strategic locations. Evri Group is exactly the type of occupier the estate was designed to attract, and this letting marks the successful completion of leasing across all three units. We remain focused on delivering well located, low carbon assets that support the evolving needs of modern distribution businesses,’ said Tom Bates, head of asset management, Europe at Cain.
