Rhenus Logistics is a leading logistics specialists with global business operations. The company has now put 51 new Mercedes-Benz eSprinters into service, further expanding its existing electric fleet. The vans are in operation at several German sites, carrying out last mile deliveries for Rhenus.

Rhenus is deploying the new electric vehicles nationwide in Germany for end customer deliveries as part of its home delivery services. This includes key logistics services such as the storage, regional distribution and delivery of new furniture, large household appliances and consumer electronics to the desired destination.

‘Our customers expect their large and bulky parcels to arrive reliably and on time. That is precisely why we are investing in the expansion of our existing fleet, 97% of which is already electrified,’ said Patrick Braune, head of fleet management at Rhenus.

The new vehicles are based on the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter chassis with rear wheel drive. All 51 units are fitted with an 81 kWh high voltage battery, a 100 kW electric motor, and support AC charging at up to 11 kW and DC charging at up to 115 kW. The eSprinters were built at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfelde; the box body was then fitted by Junge Fahrzeugbau GmbH.
