Former printing factory could support more than 1,200 jobs
Plans to transform a former printing factory in Speke into a logistics facility, which could support more than 1,200 jobs, have officially been lodged.
GB Europe Holdings snapped up the 50-acre former Prinovis site earlier this year. In July, the business launched a public consultation for its proposed development.
As part of its plans, the existing buildings on site would be demolished and replaced with a 946,868 sq ft building with office space, HGV loading and staff parking.
According to a planning statement, the service yard would include 238 HGV parking spaces, and 600 staff car parking spaces would be provided, including 30 accessible.
Sustainability measures including electric vehicle charging, secure cycle parking and extensive landscaping and tree planting would complete the development.
If planning is successfully achieved, the logistics facility will be operated by Uniserve, which is part of the GB Europe Holdings group of companies.
Once fully operational, it is estimated that up to approximately 1,200 jobs could be supported within the area, generating circa £75m of economic benefits per year. This is in addition to up to approximately 680 jobs supported during construction.
When the consultation was launched, a spokesperson for GB Europe Holdings said: “The warehouse building will be designed to a high quality to meet modern day employment needs, with occupier wellbeing at the forefront of decision making. The new facility would sit within extensively landscaped surroundings including newly planted trees.”
