Hampshire-based outdoor clothing brand Passenger is continuing its expansion into Europe with the opening of a distribution centre in Germany.
The brand now occupies up to 32,300 sq ft of warehouse space outside Dusseldorf following an eight-month project in partnership with pure-play contract logistics provider GXO.
This latest expansion brings Passenger’s total warehouse space to over 107,600 sq ft, including its UK site in the north of England.
The EU is the brand’s highest growth region, with year-on-year sales growth of over 180 per cent in 2024 – driven particularly by interest in Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Passenger has partnered with retailers including Globetrotter, Bergfreunde, Retail Concepts and Blue Tomato to grow its presence on the continent.
Jon Lane, chief executive of Passenger, said: “Partnering with GXO to open a distribution centre in a key market couldn’t come at a more pivotal time for Passenger.
“We are seeing strong growth in Germany and other EU countries, so we’re excited to be able to now service our direct-to-consumer and business-to-business customers much more efficiently, offering improved next-day and express delivery services throughout Europe.
“We’re proud to be a responsible business and are continuously monitoring our impact.
“Opening a distribution centre closer to the markets we’re operating in doesn’t just make sense logistically, enabling us to deliver faster to customers, but from a responsibility standpoint too, reducing miles travelled for products delivered.”
Oliver Kraftsik, managing director, Germany at GXO, added: “This new partnership will be a powerful catalyst for Passenger’s expansion across Europe and reinforces GXO’s growth ambitions in Germany.
“Our proven ability to rapidly deploy operations and systems, including managed transport services, positions us to immediately support Passenger’s ambitious growth journey.”
