A family-run logistics firm has been named Member of the Year in a nationwide industry awards scheme.
Hacklings Storage and Distribution, based at Bourton Industrial Park in Bourton-on-the-Water and Groundwell Industrial Estate in Swindon, received the honour at the Palletline annual awards ceremony.
The company was chosen from among 96 depots across the UK, with the award reflecting its commitment to quality, partnership, and innovation.
Ken Hackling, chairman of Hacklings Storage and Distribution, said: “Everyone here at Hacklings is delighted to have been recognised with this award.
“No shortlist was announced and so it came as a complete surprise when we won and is testament to our dedicated team.
“The award is for each and every one of the team who has helped us gain this level of recognition within the network.”
The award is the only one in the Palletline scheme voted for by members of the network, making it especially meaningful to the team.
Hacklings was founded by John Hackling and is now led by his son Ken as chairman and grandson Dale as managing director.
The company marked its 60th anniversary last year and is a founding member of the Palletline network.
Hacklings delivers pallet distribution and storage services across the UK and also manages a commercial property division.
It owns Bourton Industrial Park, which is currently home to around 80 businesses.
Mr Hackling said: “People ask us what’s the secret of our success and the answer is pretty simple, it’s our entire team.
“From the loaders/warehouse, office staff, drivers all the way up to the directors, nobody wants to fail, our ethos remains the same – get the consignment delivered on time every time.”
The awards ceremony was held at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales, and hosted by broadcaster and comedian Patrick Kielty.
Palletline, the UK’s first premium palletised freight distribution company, has been operating since 1992.
It has transformed the delivery of palletised goods through its hub-and-spoke model and focus on innovation.
The company continues to raise industry standards through its emphasis on customer service and technology.
Recent developments include Contrado, a bespoke platform designed to improve efficiency and reliability.
Palletline’s logistics network includes seven transport businesses, such as Mike Watson Transport, ABE Ledbury, and S&S Distribution.
Other members of the group include Fast Forward Distribution, Palletline London, Palletline Whitehead, and Palletline Birmingham.
