Delivering the Future – Nabo start-up Wins £350,000 Innovate UK Smart Grant to Help Solve £8bn Parcel Problem

Nabo, a Wandsworth-based start-up reshaping the ‘last metre’ of parcel delivery, has been awarded a prestigious £350,000 Smart Grant by Innovate UK, a Government-backed agency. Out of more than 1,400 applicants, only 43 companies were selected for funding, placing Nabo among the top 3% of the UK’s most innovative ventures this year.

Nabo will use the grant to accelerate the development of its neighbourhood delivery app, which leverages the power of people – not expensive infrastructure – to ensure parcels reach their destination safely, conveniently and sustainably. Centred around hyper-local groups of neighbours, the company’s beta product is set to launch this summer. Additional product features being developed by Nabo also include income-generating opportunities within local communities.

“Winning this grant is a massive vote of confidence in Nabo’s vision,” said Mikkel Dissing, Founder of Nabo. “We’re reinventing how parcels reach people by turning neighbours into a trusted, flexible delivery network. Thanks to Innovate UK’s support, we can build smarter, greener and more human solutions to the growing challenges of everyday deliveries.”

Rethinking Delivery: From Parcel Anxiety to “Parcel Peace of Mind”
Nabo directly tackles the growing frustration many face with missed deliveries, parcel theft and inconvenient collection points, weighed against the restrictive alternative of having to wait at home all day for a package to arrive. Using the simple app, customers can arrange to have parcels accepted by a trusted neighbour who lives within a 1 minute walk, and agree the most convenient time for a final handover.

By replacing costly lockers and rigid pick-up locations with hyper-local, human-powered networks, Nabo offers consumers:

  • Delivery Confidence: No more parcel anxiety – know your delivery is safe and nearby.
  • Freedom from Waiting In: Life shouldn’t stop because of a delivery window.
  • Unmatched Convenience: “Next door is next best” – your parcel is ’slipper distance’, not a drive away.
  • Stronger Communities: Build trust, connections and even new ways to earn income.
  • A Greener Planet: Fewer missed deliveries means fewer vans on the road and fewer emissions.

“Where others see infrastructure problems, we see human potential,” Dissing continued. “Nabo rewires delivery around real people and real streets, building a better system for everyone – one parcel at a time.”

Nabo is a UK-based start-up that transforms ordinary neighbours into extraordinary delivery partners. Through its community-first platform, Nabo builds hyper-local networks to solve missed deliveries, reduce emissions and create new earning opportunities – turning delivery drama into delivery delight.
