Malaysian-based air cargo services to launch in 2025
Malaysia-based Sin-Kung Logistics Bhd has announced the successful acquisition of Prima Air Sdn Bhd for RM20.7 million, marking a significant step toward launching its air cargo services by the third quarter of 2025 (3Q25).
In a statement, Sin-Kung Logistics said the acquisition paves the way for its entry into air freight operations, with plans to lease three aircraft by the end of 2025.
The company expects delivery of its first aircraft by May or June 2025, which will enable the start of cargo flights later in the year.
Alan Ong, Managing Director of Sin-Kung Logistics, highlighted that acquiring Prima Air provides an immediate platform for the company to offer air feeder services and enter into interline cargo agreements with airline partners.
These agreements will allow Sin-Kung to collaborate on transporting each other’s cargo on select routes, significantly expanding its logistics network.
Ong said: “The next phase of growth for Sin-Kung Logistics will be air cargo services. With this addition, we can now provide end-to-end supply chain solutions for both local and international freight forwarders — from trucking services to cross-border air logistics.”
He added that the air cargo operations will initially focus on Peninsular Malaysia, targeting sectors such as aerospace, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, oil and gas, and perishables.
The move into air cargo complements Sin-Kung’s existing airport-to-airport road feeder services, further strengthening its position in the Malaysian and Singaporean logistics markets.
The company aims to become a key player in regional air cargo transport, addressing growing demand for efficient and integrated logistics solutions.
