US-based logistics company has announced the sale of its US freight divisions

GLS Group, a US-based logistics company owned by International Distribution Services – which also owns Royal Mail in the UK, has announced the sale of GLS US Freight and GLS US Business Solutions, its US freight divisions, to DC Logistics.

In its announcement, GLS US said that the transaction is consistent with its strategy to ‘focus on its core parcel offering as the business seeks to reinforce its position as the preferred parcel delivery provider for US customers’. It noted that ‘freight services provided in other markets where GLS operates will be unaffected’.

Saadi Al-Soudani, chief international officer at GLS Group, said: “This sale marks an exciting milestone for GLS as we focus on expanding our core US domestic and international parcel offerings. The GLS commitment remains to provide its parcel customers with exceptional quality and service as well as grow GLS US as a leading parcel delivery service provider in the American market.”

Judas Castro, CEO of DC Logistics, added: “We are thrilled to welcome GLS US Freight and GLS US Solutions into our team. This is a significant step to accelerate our journey to become a Top 20 less-than-truckload carrier in the United States and it will enhance our value proposition to our customers while positioning our company and our employees for new levels of success. We intend to revive the Mountain Valley Express brand known for its history of excellence in customer service.”

According to GLS, the sale is set to officially close on 1 September 2024, subject to customary closing conditions.
