Delivery Company helps to reduce emissions into the environment

HIVED and The Tyre Collective have today announced a partnership to advance research in capturing and reducing particle emissions from tyres. The collaboration will see The Tyre Collective’s 4th generation prototype (TC04) device fitted to five of HIVED’s all-electric vehicle delivery vans in London, from August.

As part of the trial, the devices will sit behind each tyre and capture tyre wear particulate matter (PM) using electrostatics as they are being produced during driving. The particulates collected by each vehicle will then be analysed by The Tyre Collective in order to assess the performance of the device.

The collaboration comes at a key moment, as awareness of the significant impact of PM emissions from tyres continues to grow. Currently, 6.1 million tonnes of tyre dust ends up in our atmosphere and waterways, annually. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles (EV) and the increasing efficiency of combustion engines, tyre wear is expected to become the number one source of vehicle pollution in the coming years.

HIVED’s Head of Impact, Gemma Neal, said, “This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to not only provide the best customer experience possible, but to also provide one that minimises our impact on the planet. Through addressing this often-overlooked source of pollution, our work with The Tyre Collective demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, as well as our dedication to setting new standards within the logistics and transportation industry.”

The Tyre Collective Co-Founder & CEO, Hanson Cheng, said “Our partnership with HIVED marks a significant milestone for us. We share a mission to reduce particulate matter for a cleaner, healthier environment, and together set a new standard to address non-exhaust emissions in the logistics sector.”
